About Your Therapist

Glenn Morrison, LMFT

I believe in the uniqueness of each individual and how they experience the world. I seek to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel truly heard and accepted, meeting clients where they are and understanding their stories without judgment. Creating such a space enables clients to heal and grow, exploring the deepest parts of themselves and gaining a greater understanding of who they are as a unique person.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I recognize the need for therapy services that address the unique experiences of those with nondominant sexual and gender identities. I also focus on couples and family therapy with those from both traditional and nontraditional family structures, including polyamorous and consensual non-monogamous relationships.

My recent experience of living in the Philippines for 2 ½ years has made me keenly aware of how culture and identity interplay and help to form our stories, highlighting the importance of having a space that values different cultural perspectives. Further, this experience has given me an appreciation of the immigrant experience and what it means to navigate life in a new country.

Professional Journey

After a long career in the technical industry and shorter careers in massage therapy and real estate, I returned to my roots as a healer and helper with a career as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a graduate of Pacifica Graduate Institute with a Masters in Counseling Psychology. My experience as a therapist includes working at Shine a Light Counseling Center since 2021 and completing an internship in 2020-2021 at Family Focus, a family services organization serving the Chicago area. This internship gave me a wide variety of experience, including significant work with children and parents involved in the child welfare system. My previous academic experience includes having studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA where I earned a BS in Industrial Management and Spanish and at the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA where I earned a certificate in Muscular Therapy.

My style is person-centered, balancing the latest evidence-based techniques with my foundations in Jungian and imaginal depth psychology and a psychodynamic approach. My areas of focus include LGBTQ+ issues, sexual and gender identity exploration, couples and family therapy, poly-positive and consensual non-monogamy, anxiety, depression, and existential exploration.
